At Ochre and Silk, we believe that beautiful design shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet. Sustainability isn’t an afterthought — it’s embedded in everything we do, from the way we source our pieces to how we pack and ship them. We’re always learning and evolving, but here’s what we’re committed to right now:

PACKAGING
We pack with intention — minimising waste, eliminating plastic, and reusing wherever possible.

• 100% plastic-free packaging

• Recycled cardboard boxes and compostable mailers

• Paper tape instead of plastic-based alternatives

• All printed materials are produced using recycled paper stocks

• We recycle soft plastics, paper, and cardboard from our operations

SHIPPING
We prioritise low-impact logistics wherever possible.

• We opt for sea freight over air freight to significantly reduce carbon emissions

• Consolidated shipments to minimise unnecessary transport

• Local fulfilment to cut down on inter-state shipping and fuel use

SOURCING
We champion the S-L-O-W philosophy — sourcing with integrity, care, and longevity in mind.

• We work almost exclusively with natural materials — clay, cotton, wool, silk, leather, wood, metal, glass, and stone

• We prioritise traditional techniques and handcrafted quality over mass production

• We build relationships with ethical workshops and artisan studios that share our values

• We choose pieces made to last — high quality, repairable, and timeless in design

LOOKING AHEAD
Sustainability is a journey, not a checkbox. We’re constantly reviewing our practices and asking: How can we do better? From reducing emissions to deepening our relationships with ethical makers, we’re committed to continuous improvement.
