OVERVIEW
The Pakurigo Wave Basket is more than storage — it is sculpture woven from heritage. Handcrafted in Ghana from resilient elephant grass, its flowing, wave-like form brings both artistry and function into your home. Recognised for its distinctive design, first created in 2013, this basket is a contemporary icon of Ghanaian craft.
FORM & DETAILS
Each basket is woven entirely by hand by master artisans in Bolgatanga. The innovative “wave” technique, now taught across the Lome region, blends tradition with modern design. Subtle variations in shape, texture, and tone reflect the individuality of the maker, ensuring no two pieces are ever alike. Durable, sculptural, and textural, it is both practical and artistic.
STYLING NOTES
Sculptural and versatile, the Pakurigo Wave Basket makes an impact whether styled as functional storage or displayed as a design object. Perfect for holding blankets, toys, or everyday essentials, it also stands beautifully on its own — a statement of organic form and heritage craftsmanship. Styled as a table centrepiece, it becomes a vessel for foliage, branches, or seasonal blooms, transforming simple arrangements into artful compositions. Its architectural curves complement both pared-back and layered interiors, resonating with earthy, minimalist, coastal, and bohemian design styles.
